Homocysteine and Fibrosis?

Hyperhomocysteinemia through various mechanisms promtoes myocardial fibrosis.

Is it possible to reverse myocardial fibrosis? There is insufficient evidence to make any decisive commitment in this regard. However, since the "therapy" is almost harmless, why not try it? As usual, be sure you check with your doctor before you change your diet and especially before you try any vitamin regime.

In my case I will be continuing to experiment with a food-based diet that provides natural anti-oxidants which is what is supposed to help against the oxident stress component of one of the above mechanisms. What kind of food-based diet? Lots and lots of vegetables, beans legumes, fruits, and some nuts and seeds. I love black olives but will stay away from those, now, since I learned they are very high in fat and ANY kind of fat is bad for the heart.

I will also post some information on latest research around controlling homocysteine with a vitamin supplement regimen. Stay tuned for that.

May you control your homocysteine and dodge the bullet of fibrosis.
