To Ablate or Not?

Some doctors will recommend surgery to help stop Atrial-Fibrillation. Atrial-Fib, as was explained to me, happens when a number of electrical impulses that were firing in a sequence in the heart encounters a barrier that causes it to begin firing out of sequence. Ablation is intened to kill, (he said, to "quiet"), some of those nerves. It is considered that creating circles of scar tissues in the heart around four veins where the abnormal electrical implulses originate. As with any other surgery, this ablation procedure ought to be recommended as a last resort. After one ablation, there MAY be a need for another ablation procedure.

Discuss the matter thoroughly with your specialist. Be sure you know the downside as well as the upside. There are no guarantees but you want some kind of reassurance with a high probability outcome.

May you be healthier tomorrow than you are today.
